AC-ET and the Elephant Queen education outreach project in Kenya

  • AC-ET supports Elephant Queen outreach education project in Kenya with nearly 70 items of professional-grade lighting, audio, projection and cabling technology

  • Flight-cased, road-ready solutions built for speed, durability, and ease.

  • Outreach team now equipped to scale conservation education across Kenya with an even more ambitious programme

  • Film-maker and environmental educationalist Etienne Oliff is leading on documenting the project, while Martin King at AC-ET led on the technical specification.

AC-ET is proud to be supporting the Elephant Queen outreach education project as it embarks on the next phase of an ambitious education initiative in Kenya, using theatre, screenings, and live events to inspire new generations about the importance of elephant conservation.

This collaboration marks the very beginning of our partnership - and while the equipment has only just arrived, the benefits are already clear. For the first time, the Outreach team can scale their activities using a professional-grade package of lighting, projection, and audio equipment designed for resilience in the toughest of conditions (heat, dust, humidity) - and the rigours of extensive on-the-road touring.

The right equipment for an ambitious road tour

All equipment for the project was specified and purchased through AC-ET’s Martin King, who worked closely with the Outreach team to ensure the package would deliver in the field. From powerful projection systems to versatile lighting rigs, the kit was chosen not only for its performance but for its ability to support large-scale outreach, reaching more people than ever before.

Every item has been packaged and flight-cased for maximum efficiency - quick to pack and unpack in a wide range of different settings, robust enough to withstand long journeys, and ready for repeated use across Kenya.

Raising the bar for outreach education

The new technical kit will enable the delivery of professional-standard theatre and screening experiences in schools and community spaces, significantly enhancing the immersive quality of the programme. The Outreach team believe this will deepen audience engagement, sparking meaningful conversations about biodiversity and conservation.

For the team, this marks a “new chapter.” Their pilot phase was already a huge success despite having only limited technical resources. Now, with a high-end package designed for their needs, they are ready to take the programme to another level.

Technology designed to endure challenging terrain and tough conditions

Taking theatre on the road in Kenya is no small task. All equipment must fit into a single 4×4 lorry, travelling across rough roads into remote communities. The environment presents additional challenges - high temperatures, dust, and humidity - demanding durable, reliable, and easy-to-handle solutions.

AC-ET’s expertise in specifying, sourcing, and casing equipment to meet these operational realities has been critical. It means the Outreach team can focus on what matters most: delivering their message and creating a real impact with their target audiences.

For this ambitious touring programme, nearly 70 separate items were specified. They were chosen for their proven performance credentials, their ability to work in variety of variable conditions (often high humidity) and their durability for withstanding the rigours of constant touring.

135,000 people and counting - the impact so far

The African Outreach Programme’s pilot phase reached more than 135,000 people across Kenya, from remote pastoral communities to urban schools. Using theatre and screenings, they have been able to connect with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, creating spaces for dialogue about elephant conservation and the future of wildlife.

Following the success of the initial pilot programme, we were able to identify a real educational need for the project. But with limited technical resources, we knew that the effectiveness of what we wanted to achieve would be compromised. Thanks to the technical support and expertise provided by Martin, we’re now able to realise our vision for a much more ambitious project - one that will reach thousands of people and deliver a powerful message through a range of premium presentation technologies.

With the new equipment in place, the ambition is to extend that impact even further - ensuring the message of elephant conservation resonates across the country.
