Phillip Pearce, AVC Live’s Head of Technical Services, approached AC-ET’s Video Technical Sales Executive, Chris Beardwell when he was looking to invest in a scalable, easy-to-use 4K HDMI over IP matrix solution that would meet the bespoke technical requirements of a huge range of client projects.
Phillip commented:
Part of my remit is to oversee our annual investment in new technologies, recommending solutions to meet our constantly evolving technical demands for client live event productions and permanent AV installations. Chris specified Just Add Power’s award-winning 4K HDMI over IP transmitters and receivers, which when used in conjunction with a compatible managed Gigabit network switch, seamlessly routes 4K-quality video and audio signals from multiple sources to multiple display devices in different locations.
For the network switch, Chris recommended the Luminex GigaCore range, which has been specifically designed and configured for professional entertainment applications requiring single or converged distribution of AV and lighting data between front of house and backstage at a live event or exhibition.
AVC purchased 30 Just Add Power receivers and 20 transmitters, and five Luminex GigaCore switches. These have been used for various large-scale productions and exhibitions to deliver content to multi-screen video walls and separate screens in different on-site locations.
He commented:

We’re also really impressed by the GigaCore switches. Using the fiber link and PoE features, we can run all our video and audio data plus even lighting data and the connected devices’ power, through a single cable over distances going into the kilometres if needed.
Summarising the purchase, he commented:
The products work really well together. Both have extremely low latency and support the very latest protocols. Combined with their plug & play connection and a great control GUI, it makes the overall system very quick to set up, and very easy to make last-minute adjustments in a live environment when more feeds or screens need to be added.
