AC-ET Supplies Complete Rigging Solution to the NEC Group
25th February 2013
A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd’s Rigging division has supplied 50 x 1 tonne Columbus McKinnon (CM) Entertainment Lodestar D8 Series (Model L) electric chain hoists, complete with work-ready infrastructure - including flightcases, Out Board DV8 direct control motor controllers and cabling - to the NEC Group in Birmingham.
The NEC Group operates 19 constantly busy halls at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, as well as the National Indoor Arena (NIA) multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue in the city centre.
The purchase was co-ordinated for the NEC Group by Resource Manager for Rigging, Rob O’Donnell, who worked closely with AC-ET’s Rigging Sales Specialist, Matthew Millward.
Adding to their existing stock of over 100 x 1-tonne CM Lodestar hoists, Rob explains his confidence in the CM Entertainment brand - for which AC-ET are the exclusive reseller and servicing agent in the UK - “CM provide quality kit, which is ideal for conference and exhibition applications… the motors are rugged, easy to maintain, virtually indestructible and will simply work - and keep working – reliably year after year!”
The CM Entertainment range of industry standard electric chain hoists is synonymous worldwide with quality, reliability and durability.
Building on the original CM Lodestar design, the next generation D8 Series incorporates a number of new features, including a 5 pocket lift wheel, which improves chain wear and ensures smooth lifting; precision helical gearing for quieter operation; and a redesigned control panel which provides easier access and fuse installation.
As part of the package, AC-ET provided a flightcasing solution to house the Lodestar motors. Designed to be sturdy, flexible and user-friendly, the flightcases allow Rob and his team to easily store and transport their inventory around the NEC’s many venues.
In addition to the CM motors, the NEC Group also purchased four Out Board Electronics DV8 8-channel direct control hoist controllers, which provide eight channels of direct hoist control complete with industry standard Socapex control/power connectors and internal sub-assemblies for optimum serviceability. The new DV8 controllers expand the NEC’s existing stock of eight controllers, which Rob says “Have always worked brilliantly”.
To complete the order, AC-ET’s own in-house Cable Express service custom manufactured 1.5 Km of control and power cabling.
Rob concludes that he was “hugely impressed” with Matt’s expertise and knowledge of the product, adding that the speed and efficiency of the process and dealing with AC-ET gave him “real confidence”.
The new equipment went into immediate use around the NEC’s many exhibition halls.
Shortly after the supply was completed, the NIA followed up with an order of four Out Board DV8 controllers, hand-held remotes and cabling from AC-ET.
AC-ET are a one-stop supplier for CM Entertainment electric chain hoists – including an in-house specialist Rigging Services department dedicated to the assembly and servicing of Lodestar and Prostar models.
