Color Web Gets Attention of Leading Russian Shows

13th August 2008

Professional scenic design and rental company ArtStage has recently supplied Chroma-Q® Color Web™ for four high profile Russian shows and events in just over one month.

The diverse projects include a major radio station's 15th anniversary celebration event in Moscow's Red Square, a music TV awards show, a leading film awards event, and a national ball to acknowledge the country's best students.

ArtStage General Producer, Alexey Spaskov, sourced the Color Web at the Prolight & Sound show when he was looking for a cost-effective, flexible LED visual effects system capable of dressing large stage scenic areas of TV shows, concerts and events.

Manufactured by Artistic Licence, the Color Web's lightweight design, which overcomes the need for special equipment such as winch stands and chain hoists to install it, was a major factor in Alexey supplying it for the set of Muz TV, Russia's most prestigious annual music TV awards show. Held at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, the Color Web provided a large curved video screen at the centre of the main stage design, which was lowered between performances to allow the smooth changeover of artists, and used to display various visual effects.

Alexey commented: "The Color Web is especially suited to large scale displays in stadiums. On such projects there are always technical complexities installing standard LED screens more than 48m² in size. The Color Web's light weight and low wind resistance solves these problems, enabling a video display up to 600m² in size."

Similarly, the Color Web's semi-transparency was central to the set design for Kinotavr, Russia's largest national film awards event, which celebrated 100 years of homegrown cinema this year. The Color Web was configured to hang above and either side of a large conventional LED screen centre stage, and double hung in two separate layers to facilitate a very smooth transition of visual elements.

Aside from the product itself, Alexey puts the Color Web's instant success in Russia down to the support he's received from A.C. Lighting, the exclusive worldwide distributor for the Color Web.

He commented: "A.C. Lighting provides very professional support, ensuring necessary technical consultations occur very quickly and in full Russian language, saving us lots of time and escaping communication problems. I look forward to working with them to create many more unique shows."

Alexey will be showing the Color Web to major Russian TV studios when the new season starts in September, and expects much interest when exhibiting the product at Russia's largest industry tradeshow in October.

He commented: "Only two months after seeing the Color Web in Frankfurt, this product is being used on all our major shows and works just perfectly. Owing to its light weight, flexibility and transparency, Color Web has found itself in many modern and fashionable stage sceneries over here. I'm currently working on a project where all scenery will be provided in 3D by Color Web. It will amaze people's imagination, allowing us to change the modern concept about scenery on concert and TV shows. In my opinion, Color Web is the best product in the Russian market of all lower resolution screens. Show designers will love it due to its simplicity in installation and multifunctionality."
