ACSP Get in the Fast Lane with the MG KX Momentum Racing Team

7th January 2013

A.C. Special Projects (ACSP) Ltd. has supplied Brand Pilot Limited, a strategic marketing consultancy based in Oxford, UK, with a complete touring audio and lighting solution for the promotional stand used at race circuits across the UK supporting Tesco’s sponsorship of the MG KX Momentum Race Team.

The 10 x 15 metre structure has been appearing throughout the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) racing season, including visits to the legendary Brands Hatch, Donington Park and Silverstone circuits.

The all-new MG Motor UK team main sponsors are Tesco’s Momentum99 fuel and KX Energy Drink. The team is piloted by double BTCC champion Jason Plato. Completing the all-British line-up, the team’s new MG6 GT five-door fastback is the first new MG in 16 years, designed and engineered at MG Motor’s UK plant in Birmingham.

ACSP was recommended to Brand Pilot by Jason Plato due to their extensive experience in providing bespoke audio and lighting systems for clients in the motorsport and leisure industries, as well as their access to a huge variety of leading entertainment technology brands.

The stand was divided into two sections. One dedicated to KX energy drink, the other to Tesco’s Petrol Filling Station business where they showcase the latest petrol pumps, have a replica race car on display and promote the performance unleaded fuel Momentum99.

The system needed to be affordable, weather resistant, durable, tourable and quick and easy to set-up.

ACSP’s Project Manager, Lance Bromhead and General Manager, James Bawn specified the audio and lighting equipment - all of which was chosen for being extremely dynamic, practical and of good value.

The audio system comprises Wharfedale Si-10X full range speakers powered by Crown XTi-2002 amps, complete with a Cloud CX-263 three zone mixer, Sennheiser hand-held radio mics and a Numark M8 4 channel DJ mixer.

The lighting includes Chauvet COLORado LED wash light fixtures and Legend 412 moving yokes, plus cabling, distro and a pre-programmed DMX pre-set control panel for simple touch-button selection of different lighting states and sequences.

The speakers and lighting fixtures all clamp to the stand’s trussing superstructure.

Also featured on the stand was a KX bar, shop and information counters, with a popular race team Q&A session which allowed fans to quiz Jason Plato about all things racing.

Lighting and sound was overseen on the road by Tristan Edwards, who was given full on-site training by ACSP at the first two races.

Tristan comments, “It is very logical and works well. I am impressed with the way the kit has stood up against the sporadic summer weather.”

He adds that the service and support from ACSP has been “brilliant”.

ACSP sister company, A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd. have strong links with British motor racing, and are a sponsor of the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s exclusive Rising Stars Programmes, as well as the Jack Goff Racing team, who recently won the ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin.
