A.C. Special Projects Supply & Install Flexible Audio System for K West Hotel

16th November 2010

A.C. Special Projects Ltd. have provided a cutting-edge audio solution featuring a fixed installation background music system and a separate high performance DJ PA system for the K West Hotel & Spa, one of London’s trendiest hotel and leisure complexes.

Located in London’s hip Shepherd’s Bush district and recognised in style magazines worldwide, K West is chilled by day and buzzing by night. Featuring a luxurious and ultra-contemporary interior design, the complex’s facilities include a separate multi-purpose lounge bar and restaurant, a holistic spa and a fitness club.

K West were looking to upgrade their existing bar and restaurant speaker system to increase the venue’s appeal as a premier nightlife destination during evenings and weekends. They approached A.C. Special Projects to specify, supply and install a discreet audio solution providing high quality sound for day-time background music applications, as well as a more powerful PA system for night-time use by DJs at weekends and during private parties or corporate functions.

A.C. Special Projects specified fixed installation Turbosound TCS-C35T full range two-way loudspeakers finished in white, to replace the existing ceiling-mounted speakers in the K Lounge Bar and Kanteen restaurant. Featuring a narrow speaker depth for easy installation into any ceiling grid, combined with a wide, conical dispersion pattern, the unit was ideal for this type of high quality background music application. The company also installed Apart 100V line power amplifiers to drive the units and all associated audio cabling.

In addition, A.C. Special Projects specified a Pioneer CDJ900 desktop CD players and DJM400 mixer, a QSC four channel power amplifier and a Martin Audio system featuring full range AQ6 loudspeakers, an AQ210 vented sub-bass enclosure and a controller for the rooms’ high performance audio solution. The wall-mounted white loudspeakers deliver dynamic performance from a very small vented enclosure, providing a visibly unobtrusive solution to blend in with the perfectly co-ordinated rooms’ aesthetics.

The portable DJ console and QSC amplifier are wired into a single power and mains distribution cable which plugs into a socket in the K Lounge Bar when in use. The amplifier provides separate volume level control of the PA system loudspeakers in both rooms, enabling the venue to pipe the sound in the downstairs bar to the upstairs restaurant as well if clientele overflow into this area, or if they want the volume at different levels in each room to suit separate applications.

In addition, A.C. Special projects mounted the sub-bass enclosure on neo pream foam to prevent any sound vibration from being transmitted through the building’s walls and floors.

K West’s Carl Randall commented: “It was a real pleasure working with A.C. Special Projects. They were efficient, professional, friendly & thorough. I cannot recommend them enough.”
