A.C. Special Projects are On Board with Brittany Ferries

23rd September 2010

A.C. Special Projects Ltd. have provided cutting-edge lighting and audio equipment to Brittany Ferries as part of an upgrade of the live entertainment facilities on board their Bretagne and Cap Finistère cruise ferries.

Brittany Ferries are a leading provider of Western Channel ferry routes to Spain and France from the UK and Republic of Ireland. The company’s modern fleet are more like cruise ships, offering unrivalled standards of service, style and onboard facilities.

Depending on route and time of year, the ships feature entertainment programmes, including resident music duos, cabaret singers, close-up magic and headlining illusion sets, through to cocktail pianists, tribute acts and DJ sets – even a full pantomime production in the school holidays on one longer route.

An established supplier to the cruise ships market, A.C. Special Projects was approached by Brittany Ferries to provide a high quality upgrade solution for the Bretagne’s Main Bar lighting and audio systems. The installation includes Martin MAC moving lights, Martin Magnum smoke and haze effects, an Allen & Heath mixing console, Sennheiser radio mics, a PC based lighting control system and associated cabling.

The company also provided a new PA system for the Cap Finistère’s Planets Bar upper and lower deck levels. The installation includes wall and ceiling mounted speakers, a Pioneer twin DJ CD and 19” control rack containing an Allen & Heath mixing console, Sennheiser radio mics, QSC amplifiers, processing eq and other AV source equipment. A Rane Zone mixer was provided to give the crew independent control of the audio levels in different zones of each deck level in the Planets Bar. In addition, a portable PA system was supplied for quick and easy setup near the sun deck swimming pool.

Brittany Ferries’ Entertainment & Specialist Retail Manager, John Harrison commented: "The sound and lighting upgrades which A.C. Special Projects have carried out are part of a continuous programme to support our ships' entertainment teams and improve Brittany Ferries passengers' experience. We're really impressed by ACSP's enthusiasm and commitment to quality work, delivered on budget and complimented by their superb communications with everyone involved - from our entertainment managers and radio officers on board, through to head office project management. Thanks for a job very well done guys!"
