A.C. Lighting Stand Demonstrates One-Stop Solution at ABTT

1st July 2004

The A.C. Lighting stand at this year's ABTT Theatre Show featured displays for many of the leading entertainment technology brands together with the first showing of several innovative new products.

Better Visitor Experience
To highlight the significant growth in A.C.'s audio range since last year's show, as well as new everyday theatre lighting fixtures, accessories and consumables, this year's stand adopted a more graphical representation of products - running 14m long by 3m wide, the new open stand layout gave visitors better access and more space. Pete Floyd, the company's Technical Manager and designer of the stand commented: "We wanted the visitor experience to take customers through a logical progression of our key products and services, whilst creating more space on the stand, so even with a lot of visitors it wasn't too crowded. The long stand design and graphical representation really worked this year, with each of the 12 panels representing parts of our key business areas and product ranges, leaving plenty of room for console demonstrations and meetings."

Chroma-Q's Ever Growing Portfolio on Display
The Chroma-Q Brand, which is exclusively distributed worldwide by A.C. Lighting, previewed their first LED product, the Colour Block DB4 - a modular block of 4 powerful colour mixing LED lights which is due for release in the near future. The product's modular construction will allow the Colour Block to be easily linked in stacks or rows to create battens and banks.

Other Chroma-Q products on display included the family of colour changers, the Daylight PAR, gobo rotators, DMX controlled Mirror, the Magic Box range of DMX buffers, splitters and power supplies.

Also on display were the exclusive Tourspot/Tourwash range of 250W and 575W discharge spot and wash moving lights, which come supplied with quick release fixing clamps, plugs, lamps and safety bond.

Tourflex Datasafe Expands Cable Range
On show for the first time was the latest addition to A.C.'s extensive range of custom cables - the exclusive new Tourflex Datasafe 4B cable. The shielded two pair, 110 Ohm digital data cable is designed for installation in harsh environments. Its low smoke, halogen-free properties are a key feature and being insulated to 1000V, the cable can be laid in the same containment as mains cables if required. Manufactured and tested to exacting specifications to ensure high performance and consistency, the ruggedised cable's outer sheath is both flame retardant and toughened, giving excellent wear resistance.

WYSIWYG Unleashes Your Potential
Authorised WYSIWYG Trainer Andy Mahaffey was kept busy demonstrating how the industry's leading lighting design software allows seasoned professionals and students alike to explore their creative potential and reduce design time through the convenience of having access to a virtual lighting rig with endless possibilities.

Audio Solutions Expanded
A.C.'s Audio division was represented by newcomer Alex Hadjigeorgiou - products on display included ASL professional intercom systems and the latest Yamaha digital audio control desk. The Yamaha DM1000 was the star of the audio display - A.C. was recently awarded the status of Yamaha Digital Dealer and Alex's extensive experience in this field places the company in a perfect position to both distribute and support the range.

New Jands Vista Console Steals the Show
Demonstrations of the new Jands Vista lighting console were carried out throughout the day and became a main visitor attraction - the console's revolutionary user interface and ease of use puts it at the forefront of new console technology and demonstrations never fail to impress lighting professionals.

The established grandMA console, favoured desk for hundreds of major shows' venues and events around the world, was on display again and A.C.'s product specialists were on hand to demonstrate the desks' powerful, flexible, advanced features and ease of use - this coincides with the arrangement of several one day grandMA presentation seminars to be held around the country in June. Operators, designers and students wishing to join one of the free seminars should call Neil Vann or Ken Poole on 01494 446000.

Meeting Area Created for A.C. Special Projects
As part of A.C.'s policy of providing total solutions, a meeting area was created to represent the company's Special Projects division. The area was kept busy offering venues and organizations the possibility to meet and discuss their needs where installation formed part of their requirements. The division specialises in providing a complete service from concept to specification design, installation, commissioning and post installation support.

Spotlight on Theatre Luminaires
Italian theatre luminaire manufacturer Spotlight had a separate area dedicated to their range of theatre lanterns. The new Evolution range of 1k to 2k Zoom profiles with their enhanced optics and superior construction was just one of the many quality products on display. Other ranges included the Mini range of architectural products, Vedette 1k followspot, ARC yokes - including the new range adapted for video projection - and the Combi range of general theatre lanterns. Spotlight is distributed exclusively in the UK by A.C. Lighting.

Litec in Supporting Role
Litec supplied the TX25 truss system which supported the Spotlight range at one end of the stand. On display was their new catalogue, which is now available free of charge by calling 01494 446000. The wide range of truss components available enables the creation of almost any supporting structure in entertainment and is available exclusively in the UK through A.C. Lighting. The whole range has now been incorporated into a single catalogue and Litec have announced the soon to be released Litecad - a design software package for users and specifiers of Litec truss systems.
