First Chroma-Q® Color Splits Stocked by Event Concept

4th September 2007

London-based Event Concept is the first UK production and hire company to take delivery of the new Chroma-Q Color Split multi-purpose LED fixture.

Event Concept provides a creative event design and full technical production service for both corporate and private clients, and is listed as an approved supplier in over 35 of London's most prestigious venues.

The company's large LED stock was becoming increasingly in demand over conventional fixtures for all regular event environments due its energy and space-saving benefits, so in August they decided it was time to invest in more inventory for the upcoming Autumn season.

Roger Deane, Event Concept's Head of Company Operations, had been considering a number of LED products on the market when he contacted long-time supplier A.C. Lighting, who recommended the new Color Split fixture due to its unique split beam benefits and multi-purpose design.

Roger chose the Color Split after it came out top in all areas during a like-for-like demo against several other fixtures, and placed an initial order for 24 units with plans to build stock up further in the coming months.

He commented: "The Color Split is ideal for our needs. It provides a very smooth colour change without any sudden 'jumps' that are common with other products and also a very smooth output for uplighting columns or walls. The colour mixing effects are also very impressive - I've seen people trying to use multiple units to achieve a similar effect and failing."

As well as praising the Color Split's unique split cell benefits and advanced split beam technology, Roger was also impressed by the unit's compact and robust design: "Having an onboard PSU and DMX means no faff and it's got a minimal footprint for tight event spaces. It's also sensibly constructed and has a simple, user-friendly mode and address system - so a great all-round design."

Although the specification of the fixture was still being finalised at the time of order, A.C. was able to deliver the units ahead of Event Concept's September deadline and incorporate their request for standalone functionality into the first software issue.

Event Concept plan to use the Color Split to wash columns and walls in a range of prestigious venues across London in the coming months. The design production team are looking forward to applying them and experimenting with the range of possible effects on their first project using the fixture - lighting a stage backdrop at one of London's most prestigious and exciting events venues.

Summarising the decision to purchase Color Splits, Roger commented: "I have dealt with A.C. Lighting for over 20 years and have a good deal of trust in the advice they give and the knowledge base the company represents. We are pleased to be the first investors in the Color Split and look forward to building our stock as the season progresses."
