Description

The TTS56-A is a high power, high output active subwoofer system that sets a new standard in the touring sound reinforcement.

The new 21" neodymium design represents the result of many years dedicated in pioneering new solutions for the transducers technology. The integration of the 6800 W, two channel digital amplification and the advanced digital processing set a new standard for distortion, noise and thermal efficiency.

Thanks to the two 3400 W each power amplifiers the TTS56-A delivers the maximum output power per size available on the market today. The amplifiers are equipped with Power Factor Correction (PFC) designed to offer a full voltage supply from any type of plug available.

Two separate channels with independent power supplies have been provided to ensure top efficiency levels and maximum reliability for an extensive use of the subwoofer during tours.

The amplifier integrates a 32 bit floating point DSP controlled through RCF unique RDNet Protocol that manages crossover, equalization, time alignment and protections.
The state of the art compressor/limiter circuit on board prevents amplifiers from clipping and avoid overdriving the transducers.

6 fans and a large sized vented aluminium rear panel assure the optimal thermal dissipation.
The amplifier is housed on a unique Vibrostop floating aluminium panel for extra protection during transportation.

XLR INPUT (BAL/UNBAL)
The system accept female XLR input connectors and line-level signals from a mixing console or other signal source.

XOVER SIGNAL OUTPUT
The output XLR male connector provides a crossover high passed signal (24 dB/octave) for satellite speakers.

SIGNAL LINK XLR OUTPUT
The output XLR male connector provides a loop through for speakers daisy chaining.

DATA INPUT AND DATA LINK ETHERCON CONNECTORS
The system is equipped with an RDNet connection on board to receive status information of the system and to send commands to the system.

A separate power panel with Powercon AC connector is provided for the maximum flexibility in case a different connector must be installed. The TTS56-A amplifier's input board includes all the controls to configure the system for every situation even from remote thanks to the Ethercon port and the RCF exclusive RDNet protocol and control software.

The new 21" transducer developed for the TTS56-A sub represents the most powerful woofer ever manufactured by RCF delivering the cleanest, punchiest and undistorted low frequencies reproduction event at the most extreme sound pressure levels required by large scale applications.

In order to dissipate the heat generated by the powerful 4.5" voice coil, RCF engineers have developed a unique ventilation system that offers the best thermal dissipation and the lowest power compression. The Hyper Ventilation System is the result of a complex combination of holes in the voice coil former, in the magnetic structure and in the woofer basket. In fact, thanks to the large excursion of the cone, the great amount of air generated is directed through the holes creating a very high level of turbulence that keeps the transducer cooler without using a forced ventilation system. Thanks to the amazing strength of the voice coil former, obtained with the double Nomex layer, RCF engineers were able to make bigger holes without compromising the structure stiffness and therefore allowing the passage of a greater quantity of air, which would have not been possible with standard formers.

The cabinet is made in high quality Baltic Birch plywood with every layer glued with a special water resistant adhesive that makes the cabinet completely waterproof.

The paint department inside our factory in Italy utilizes a special polyurea paint to create a very thick full coating of the cabinet making it highly resistant to scratches and bumps. The TTS56-A is a high power, high output active subwoofer system that sets a new standard in the touring sound reinforcement in terms of control, sound quality and power output per size. The new 21" neodymium design represents the result of many years dedicated in pioneering new solutions for the transducers technology. The integration of the 6800 W, two channel digital amplification and the advanced digital processing set a new standard for distortion, noise and thermal efficiency.

SET UP AND CONFIGURATION
The TTS56-A active subwoofer can be configured both from the rear panel and from remote through the RDNet connection.
input sensitivity
INPUT SENSITIVITY
This rotary switch controls the overall signal level at the input to the power amplifier.

XLOW CUT 30/45 HZ
This switch provides a high pass 24 dB/octave filtering at 30 or 45 Hz. This setting is perfect for indoor situations or when all the power shall be used in the 45 Hz - 100 Hz range.

XOVER 60/90 HZ
It provides either a 24 dB/octave low-pass filtering at 80 Hz or 110 Hz. The same crossover frequency in high pass is available from Xover Output Xlr.

TIME DELAY ENCODER
Provides a time delay setting expressed in meters.

TIME DELAY DISPLAY
High quality digital display that shows the time delay setting.

4 SYSTEM STATUS INDICATORS
Power, status, signal and limiter.

CARDIOID SET UP
This switch provides a special equalization and delay setting to create a cardioid pattern when the system is used in conjunction with two other TTS56-A modules.

LINK AND ACTIVE LEDS
Indicate when the module is addressed and configured from the RDNet controller.

RDNET BYPASS
Pressing this switch is possible to by-pass the RDNet user setting preloaded on the module. When the RDNet controller is not connected, the by-pass switch act as follow:
- By-Pass Switch pressed (LED on), the system bypass the input board and reads the last RDNet setting configuration saved;
- By-Pass Switch released (LED off), the system reads the input board and by-pass the user setting eventually loaded on the speaker.

RDNET CONFIGURATION
The TTS56-A is equipped with a RDNet connection on board.
By using the RDNet Controller Unit is possible to:
- receive status information from the system (amplifiers status, signal levels, system settings, etc)
- send commands to the system (mute, solo, change sensitivity, change setting, set user equalization, etc)
CARDIOID SET-UP
To reduce back and side emission subwoofers cardioid configurations can be useful. The TTS56-A allows creating cardioid systems using groups of three stacked modules. Two modules must point in forward direction with the cardioid switch released. The central module must fire backward with the cardioid switch pressed.
It is important that all three modules have the same settings (system delay, sensitivity, x-low cut, xover, etc).
