Hippotizer was developed in 2001 as the world's first ‘off-the-shelf' realtime video server for displaying media. With the birth of digital video lighting in 2003, Green Hippo developed V1 of the Hippotizer DMX range. Using the industry standard protocol and controlled via a lighting desk, Hippotizer represented the future of media display.

In 2004, the V2 range added control by all common industry protocols, a separate control center, dual output on the stage and a whole host of innovative features. In 2005 the Hippotizer range received the Entertainment Design EDDY award for Projection Product of the Year.

The award winning Hippotizer range is arguably the industry's leading real-time video playback solution. Featuring portable laptop, 19" rack-mount standard definition and HD models, the Hippotizer line-up includes solutions to cater for a huge range of technical requirements and budgets including rock 'n' roll, corporate, installation, cruise ships, theatre and architectural applications.

The V3 software continues to set the benchmark for versatile media control with innovative features such as UberPan, VideoMapper and LiveMask. UberPan is a unique multi-server screen management component that allows multiple Hippotizers to work together and create a single virtual canvas. VideoMapper allows the positioning of screen elements in any random fashion as well as user defined rotation and scaling. LiveMask enables the user to draw masks directly into any layer or master output.
