AC-ET Gears Up Again for Rigging School

30th April 2010

Following the popularity of last year’s course, AC-ET’s Rigging division is hosting another training school on 7th – 8th June. This year’s event is being held in conjunction with leading trussing, staging and support solutions manufacturer, Litestructures, at their Wakefield premises.

Eric Porter, experienced independent rigger, trainer, assessor and committee member for the PLASA National Rigging Certificate, is leading the training school again alongside staff from AC-ET and Litestructures.

Keeping the same format as last year, the comprehensive two-day training programme is adopting an established course that has been attended by industry people from all over Europe. Content is aimed at professionals wanting to acquire specific know-how and expertise to use in their day-to-day roles. It is equally suitable for people in other industry roles who wish to understand this sector in more depth.

Topics covered include:
• Regulations and Risk Assessment
• Standards and Guidance
• PPE Systems for Working at Height
• Ropes and Knots
• Inspection and Records
• Lifting Principles - basic science, angled loads
• Truss Assembly and Slinging / Floating
• Bridle Work (Theory and Practical)
• Bridle Analysis (Load Calculations)
• Examples of Common Bad Practice
• Rescue Plans
• Chain Hoists, Rigging & Derigging

Content of the training may provide some of the skills and knowledge required for the PLASA National Rigging Certificate (NRC). Participants will receive a training booklet, relevant technical documentation and certification of attendance at the end of the course.

The course will also provide attendees with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the latest line-up of Litestructures products and the full range of new CM Lodestar chain hoist motors, including the D8, D8+ and C1 versions.

Production Services Ireland Project Manager Sean Pagel, who attended the course last year, commented: “I found it a very useful and informative course. The content was very thorough and there was plenty to learn, as it was geared for people of all levels of experience. To be learning from someone who has been there, done that and is still doing it made the training very real. I highly recommend it.”

Entry on the course is £375.00 (plus VAT) per person, which includes lunch, overnight accommodation, certificate of attendance and an evening meal with other delegates. For more information or to register for the course, please contact:
