Color Blocks used by 3sixtymedia for Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes Shows
3rd August 2005
Production company 3sixtymedia has used 70 Chroma-Q® Color Blocks as set lighting during the live final of this year's Stars In Their Eyes show and the recording of two upcoming celebrity specials.
3sixtymedia's state of the art Studio 12 has hosted many prime time shows for ITV companies, the BBC and independent producers. Ideally suited to light entertainment formats and renowned for hosting visually complex sets, the studio is home to Granada TV's top-rating entertainment show Stars In Their Eyes.
For the recording of the live final and the celebrity specials, Show Lighting Designer Neil Yates was looking for a fresh look to help accentuate the set background whilst the main stage lighting was turned off for artist's performances.
After seeing the Color Block being used as floor battens and wall uplighters on the set of youth current affairs programme It's My Life, Neil was impressed by the fixture's very compact size and modularity, so decided to specify them for the set of three Stars In Their Eyes shows he was filming.
Neil used over 70 Color Blocks to light the steps of the two entrance staircases leading down to the main performance area with numerous colours and effects, including a rippling chase down the steps.
Neil commented: "I was looking for an LED solution to provide extra background lighting on the set during performances when I came across the Color Block. It was perfect for the job as it's got such a small footprint for an LED batten, so I was able to place them very discretely along the steps. Having the flexibility to use them on their own as a very small batten or connect together is a great feature."
The two Stars In Their Eyes Celebrity Special shows featuring Color Blocks will be broadcast in August.
