Vision, a brand name of A.C. Lighting, is expanding its range of zoom profile lanterns this year with the addition of two new fixtures fitted with discharge lamp sources. A 1200 Watt HTI and a 2500 Watt HTI fixture are available, both coming equipped with DMX controlled dimmers. All of the standard features from the rest of the Vision range will also be fitted. These include a set of extractable, rotating beam shutters, a 'drop-in' gate for gobo's or an iris, quick locking handles for the zoom lens assembly, easy internal access for lens cleaning and maintenance, and an accessory frame with a 'snap lock' lid for safety. Other zoom profile lanterns already available in the Vision range include 650 Watt, 1200 Watt and 2500 Watt halogen fixtures. The modern, yet historical, Helsinki City Theatre in Finland's capital has recently purchased a Flying Pig Systems Wholehog II lighting controller, as part of a major refurbishment. The magnificent 910 seat theatre has taken delivery of their new console to complement a range of both new and existing lighting fixtures. Industry veteran José Joao has joined the English office of A.C. Lighting Ltd. José brings with him a wealth of knowledge and more than 15 years experience within the entertainment lighting industry. Brought on to aid with A.C. Lightings ongoing expansion, Josés knowledge of languages will enable A.C. Lighting to be more effectual in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets around the world. José has previously worked with Strand Lighting in London for ten years and further in Spain, both as a quotation supervisor for a team of international consultants at the 1992 Expo in Seville, and for Siemens Commercial Lighting Department responsible for all purchasing, quotations and sales within the company.

From A Jack To A King

After a short break for the summer, the touring production of the musical From A Jack To A King is now back on the road again and enjoying continued success. The show, which comes from the same creators as Return To The Forbidden Planet uses White Light and the Moving Light Company as it's lighting suppliers and features an array of lighting equipment in a design by Chris Jaeger. Featuring Martin MAC 1200 yoke lights, Martin Roboscans, High End Systems Dataflash strobes, and a whole host of PAR 64's, lekos, fresnels and other conventional fixtures, the design uses the best features of every fixture to their full potential. The lighting for the show is controlled from a Flying Pig Systems Wholehog II which gave Chris the flexibility that he needed to control this variety of fixtures, and, through the multiple DMX outputs, allows him to plug into the local venues dimmers and utilise the house fixtures, reducing the amount of equipment that needs to be toured with the show.

Harrahs Sky City complex is the latest adornment to the Auckland skyline in New Zealand, in fact the 364 metre high structure completely dominates the Auckland skyline, and lays claim to being the 6th tallest building in the world. Incorporated within this monster structure is a vast entertainment complex containing an hotel, a massive casino floor, shopping atrium, numerous bars and restaurants and the 700 seat Sky Theatre. The Sky Theatre itself is not the largest in Auckland, but it is the first new theatre to be built in the city since the mid 1980's, and consequently is the most technically up to date venue in this regional capital city.
