AC-ET Provide Full Audio System Solution Upgrade for Roedean School
4th December 2012
A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd. recently supplied a full audio system solution upgrade - including Traction Sound loudspeakers and an Allen & Heath mixing console - to the prestigious Roedean School in Brighton, UK.
Founded in 1898, Roedean is regarded as one of the UK’s leading girls’ schools, catering for day, weekly boarding and full boarding pupils between the ages of 11 and 18.
Ben Losh, Roedean Theatre’s Technical Manager first approached AC-ET’s Glen Thompson shortly after visiting their stand at PLASA. Impressed with their access to a wide selection of leading audio brands, Ben came to Glen looking for a new, discreet audio system that would provide even coverage, sufficient low end and vocal clarity for their performance theatre.
After hearing Ben’s system requirements, Glen recommended Brighton-based loudspeaker manufacturer, Traction Sound for their innovative ‘long throw’ Soft Dome Source (SDS) technology, sonic purity and extremely competitive pricing.
Glen coordinated an on-site demonstration at Roedean’s theatre, which was led by Traction Sound’s Shreddie Glew and Andy Pardoe, allowing Ben to hear for himself the power and quality behind the brand.
“Within minutes, I knew that I had to have this system…I was completely blown away by the capabilities of the speakers” Ben exclaims.
Ben had also received demos from several other speaker manufacturers, explaining that “Traction Sound really stood out against the rest in terms of sound quality.”
Based on Ben’s criteria, ten Traction Sound speakers were specified for the new sound system, comprising of six SDS 8i “Gobi’s” – four out front, and two for side fill; two SDS 6i “Nibbler’s” for front-fill; and two BP 12 “Cub’s” for low end.
Utilising Traction Sound’s proprietary SDS technology, both Gobi and Nibbler speakers offer an uncompressed, non-distorted output that throws to the back of the room, “and then some.”
Ben was also very impressed with the speaker’s sleek, discreet designs, which he says are “perfect for this kind of install where equipment visibility should remain minimal.”
Included in the supply from AC-ET was an Allen & Heath iLive T80 mixing surface and iDR-32 MixRack, which was chosen for its intuitive and flexible control platform, ideal for any learning environment.
Ben concludes that “The new sound system has completely transformed the theatre -providing clear, even coverage across the room… As a result the students’ workflow has improved.”
Traction Sound and Allen & Heath are two of the many leading brands available through A.C. Audio. For more information or to arrange a demonstration please call 01132557666 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
