AC-ET Offers a Shure Universal Solution

31st August 2011

A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd's Audio division has supplied a large Shure UHF-R wireless microphone system to Universal Live, a leading single-source production solutions provider to the live events industry.

Universal works extensively in the corporate world, supplying production equipment to conferences, roadshows, exhibitions, music concerts and tours, festivals and other special events.

A.C. Audios Peter Butler co-ordinated the Shure UHF-R purchase with Universal's technical director, Jon Eden and hire manager, Ben Phillips after advising them on the government's compensation scheme for radio systems ahead of the digital switchover in 2012.

"The service is good and reliable from AC-ET" remarks Jon, "and they will always try and help as much as possible when we need something 'tomorrow'."

Universal’s rental stock features a good range of premium brand, high quality equipment. Having been Shure users for some years, when the time came to replacing the existing kit with Channel 38 compliant systems, they had a good idea of what they wanted.

They researched the various alternatives before choosing the top-of-the-range Shure UHF-R wireless system. This was selected for a number of reasons, including stability, audio quality, scalability, flexibility, ease of set up and configuration, the excellent Wireless Workbench monitoring software and Shure's robust, high quality engineering.

"The Shure system fits our requirements perfectly, and the brand has proved extremely reliable over time" confirms Jon, adding that the new system also fitted their existing stock of lavalier mics and accessories, all of which can be used with the new UR1 belt-packs.

The supply included 48 Shure UR1 bodypack transmitters and 32 Shure UR4D dual channel receivers (1U 19 inch rack mounting), together with 18 UR2 hand-held transmitter mics with SM58 capsules and another six with BETA 58s, plus all required distribution amps, antennas and cables.

Universal has cased the receivers into 4-way racks for portability and convenience, and these can easily be daisy-chained together to suit the scale and size of the event.

As soon as the new Shure systems were delivered to Universal Live, they went straight out on projects for two leading blue chip brands.
